Splendid

Hello everyone! It’s been quite a hectic few weeks in camp Belly gearing up for the release of our debut album By Limbo Lake.

Check out part 3 of our video diary to get some glimpses into the recording of the album. Stay tuned for more of these, we love making them and hope you enjoy watching!

Trans Ending will be available on iTunes on the 6th of August - check out the stills below from the film clip which was shot last week. (Caravans, rain…sounds like splendour!)

By Limbo Lake Tour

That’s right, it’s time to head back out on the road with our soon to be released album. We love touring, it’s the best part of the whole puzzle, and we can’t wait to get back on (or in) the wagon!! (quite literally too, we have a band wagon…)

Tour dates SOON!

As mentioned, Steph, Eddie and myself (Sean) were lucky enough to head up to Splendour over the weekend.

Aside from the first day when heavy rain threatened to wash our tents away the weather was indeed splendid, here are some of our highlights:

- Yeasayer: Amazing set, closed with ambling alp. One of the most unique bands floating around.
- Foals – Mad dash from yeasayer ment me and Ed missed half the set, but the mix-up was jumping mad by the time we got there.
- Eddie’s caravan: think Dr. Parnassus but more puppets and sausages.
- Broken Social Scene: What can I say, new stuff was brilliant, Kevin Drew’s final quote before busting into the final burst of Meet me in the basement “I know you’ve got an election coming up…make sure your country sounds like this…..”. If only it could!
- Mei Goreng noodles….mmmm
- Midlake (especially the drummer’s insanely amazing builds/breaks in every time permutation under the sun!!)
- The baby with the earmuffs….starting em out early cant hurt right??
- The general lack of dickheads, maybe they went south for the winter….
- The Pixies stand and deliver ‘cause our songs are so damn good we don’t have try too much’ style.
- Florence and the Machine…..what - a - voice!!!!
- John Steel Singers and Jonathen Boulet – great aussie bands representing in style, two killer sets that had people talking….
- people loosing their thongs in the mud.

Despite the missed flights home (due to one hell of a delay) it was all worth it, very inspiring, till next time!

new news

evening,

things have picked up at a rapid pace for us all lately!

First & foremost, it's been stated previously but our ALBUM RELEASE DATE IS AUGUST 20, 2010!!!!!

sorry to 'shout' haha but we are over the moon that we're almost a month away from giving the world our baby, our debut..
'By Limbo Lake' was recorded by Wayne Conolly in Sydney of May/June of last year & ever since we have been eager to release & now will be in stores out through Albert Music - who we are forever grateful to.

Videos, a new single, album art & much much more will be coming your way in the coming weeks, as well as the announcement of our album tour!

As of today we also got word that our latest single 'Young Cubs" was chosen as Single of the Week on itunes Australia!! To grab the free download follow this link..AVAILABLE FOR THE REST OF THIS WEEK -> YOUNG CUBS - ITUNES - SOTW

Other than that we're practicing a fair bit, ie in an hours time, and Trent's just got back from Europe so we're all extremely jealous & a few shades lighter than him..

talk soon internet! k

6.13.2010

one in europe, five in winter

hey all, just a quick update for ye.. Trent's currently in Italy and Germany for the remainder of June so we're all just writing some new material before his return and we'll scoot off to a country house somewhere to make songs of them in July!

We have an official release date for our album 'By Limbo Lake' - AUGUST 20! Put that in your little black book..

Antony and I stayed up last night to watch the socceroos at the world cup and boy was it not worth it. Very glad now I ditched the idea of wearing the shirt and scarf combo. And right now I've just recalled I wrote a song on the piano at about 3am which I'd better go and salvage now before it goes missing in time..

I shall leave you with this video of the ultimate cheer up chimpanzee.. au revoir, kg.

5.13.2010

an east coast parade, quick call ups & groups of young animals

So first and foremost our video for Young Cubs was just released.. It's an exclusive through myspace
Young Cubs

Seabellies | MySpace Music Videos
"> but is also now avaialable to watch on youtube so I'll just post both the links and get on with it..

I've been waiting on all iphone members of the band to give me pictures from our reecent tour with Parades. Slowly I've got a few pictures, but still missing many! So i'll likely add some over time..

The tour was great, our first Sydney show had been our first show for 2010 after our 'warm-up' gig bit the dust due to weather..
Photobucket

So we'd rehearsed our hearts out and it felt great to finally play, as did Wollongong and Newcastle. Newcastle was great to have all our fav faces out on a Sunday night - we owe you all a nice cheap Friday night show soon! Promise. The tour stretched out over 3 weeks and also hit Melbourne and Brisbane, with Brisbane bringing the most damn enthusatic crowd..sound was up there with the worst thing since justin beiber (that's right!) but this was due to the installation of a new desk that day..cough

Parades are awesome to tour with..great people. We're all big fans and recommend their music to you all, please go listen to them - HERE!!!!! - it was a pleasure, and we all had a big picnic to say our farewells before we took off for adelaide for our own show ->

picnic time with parades

and a cat with a nub for a tail

Photobucket

I am missing a whole bunch of our time in Adelaide, but it was the best time we'd had there yet.. spent the day at the vineyards, I've sourced a random pic from our very own Kelleher for the moment.. but more with our stupid faces to come

Photobucket

then we got a call up to play a corporate gig in Alice Springs for the Leading Edge Music conference... a nice intimate setting under the stars. heres some pics of red dirt, and here's a random youtube clip of trans/ending from that set.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOK-gd1AiEo ..you can book us for for weddings on 1800 HI MUM..

So now we're just finalising artwork for our album 'By Limbo Lake' - release date will hopefully be with you soon.. and us!!!!! So please, if you haven't already, go back to the top and view the video for 'Young Cubs'..I'll just add, no, the young cubs lyrics aren't about war games - yes, I've been asked.

Have a happy May 14th. K

When Giants Walked the Earth

The title is misleading! I've just finished reading the Led Zeppelin biography from Mick Wall, hence the title. Some shit went down back then! Good read, I really recommend it. But I also recommend skipping through the bits in italics sometimes..Then again, what do I know!

Last week we had the pleasure of playing an intimate little set inside Albert Studios to celebrate our publishing deal with the world famous label. It's truly an honour! We had a great night drinking & laughing away & showcased some album tracks that has us all pumped up - before we'd even signed off Maree at Albert who is taking care of us got both 'Orange X' + 'Young Cubs' on rotation at Triple J, so our many thanks go out to her. It feels good to have a dedicated bunch of people (who genuinly love our music) behind us. Feels like home.

Also, we got a little off course with the drinking & decided we'd use the photo booth without realising it was a completely non-fictional teleportation device Alberts have. nb-looks like an old conan o'brien skit

Speaking of the Young Cubs & Past Lives tour, the poster is in the post below + in the middle of this tour (the 26th March to be exact) we're releasing our tracks 'Young Cubs' & 'Armour' on itunes Australia. They are up on the myspace now for your listening pleasure, & both are from the album 'By Limbo Lake' due out in May - OFFICIAL DATE COMING SOON.

Last but not least, Musicoz has announced us in their Top 5 for the alternate song category. The winners are announced on March 26th as well at an award ceremony held in Sydney. For tickets to the event go here. If you're lucky enough you might be able to get your mug on the TV as the awards are on MTV two weeks post-awards.

Here's a band that are quite an odd mix of people that i've been listening to -> Singer of Mew, Bassist of Coldplay, Guitarist of A-Ha and producer extraordinaire.. They are called Apparatjik & I've posted their song 'Snow Crystals'. If you love Mew like I do, then consider it very much worth your attention.

Below that is a Kings of Leon shred.. you've all seen the 'shreds' from st sanders surely? If not, go here! He basically dubs what you see on screen & makes them look hilariously awful, all the while being extremely talented himself to make it look so good.. this Kings of Leon shred is killer, especially as it was the show they were frustrated with the 'icy' crowd. However, I do love KOL's stuff (albums 1-3) so in the very far off chance they see me re-posting it, I apologise & please feel free to beat my brother Trent up as payback.

Enjoy...kg

when all was quiet on the belly front

well hello & happy new year

we've been rested up over summer & will not be playing until february mostly due to our fav key-tarist antony breaking his hand. but the good news is I have a tan!

we'll be shooting a new clip soon for the next single being released in January & once everyones heard it we'll come show you all how we do it live.. it was a toss up between one of our most loved & energetic live songs that we've been playing now since 2007!! holy mother of dog, how am I not sick of it yet! and probably a more obvious single choice with its punchy beat and nice big chorus that has our distinct sound.. you'll get to hear them both over the coming months, but the single will come first followed by the album soonishhh after.

in other good news I've used summer to not only read a whole lot of books (angels & demons most recently, now to see what mr ron howard has done to it in film form) but also write new material, & its great to be fruitful & varied in the writing process at the moment. I feel a more focused direction & excitement after playing a majority of the tracks on the album for a few years now. We're already 10 songs deep into a list of new songs & just have to give most of them a proper demo.

so when all seems quiet, it's actually not! we're about 5 seconds away from smacking you in the face with our second single from 'by limbo lake'. a very gentle slap that we hope you enjoy & fills the rest of your summer soundtrack.

much love

kg
